Greetings,

This is the first in a small series of test messages and explanations.

I have been trying to automate the list and have now gotten to the point
where I am ready to start a little testing and then some migration.

This automation will allow the following features:
-- automatic (un)subscription
-- archive retrieval using regular expressions and egrep (UNIX searching)
   Allows you to search all the past postings and retrieve those that
   match your string of interest.
-- a digested format of the list for those who'd rather be more or less
   read only.

There will be one minor disadvantage for all of you, but a major advantage
for me.  If your mail address bounces a certain number of messages, you'll
be automatically unsubscribed.


We can probably expect a few glitches here and there, so try to be
patient.

I am sending this message through the new and the old list.  You should
get two copies.  If not, let me know.
