  Most Tesla coilers have heard of Maxwell and vaguely understand how his
theories relate to Tesla coils. I recommend an excellent article by D.C. Cox
on Maxwells theories in Harry Goldman's TCBA Newsletter, Vol 16 #1 page 10,
January 1997. This article explains how Maxwell developed his electrical
theories and his amazingly simple but comprehensive equations.

Maxwell's theories cover the two basic methods of transfering electrical
energy, transfer by currents (electrons) thru conductors and transfer by
radiation (photons) thru dielectrics. Tesla's world wide electrical system
with Tesla coils would use solid and gaseous (ionosphere) conductors. On the
other hand the radio antenna uses radiation thru dielectrics (air, vacuum).
Tesla pointed out that radiation had limited power carrying ability and
could better be used to transmit messages.
