Digi-Key sells them at reasonable cost. They are called
Ohmite/Memcor-TruOhm vitreous enamel wirewound power resistors. Part
number for a 500 Ohm, 25 watt unit is VP25K-500-ND. Use two in parallel
for a value of 250 Ohm, 50 watt rating. Digi-Key tel. 800-344-4539. They
also have 50 watt, 100 watt, and 200 watt values for pole/potential xmfr
powered units.
