All,
[SNIP]
They had a beautiful building, giant office, modern
furniture -- the works. they wanted $35 for a 15kV, 30mA., after some
idle chit-chat, I walked out with the transformer for $20. This is the
most
I ever paid for a neon transformer, but on an average price basis, it
works out right.
Plenty of trannies out there, just waiting to be picked up!
Neon transformers for today and tomorrow,

I agree. Down here in San Antonio, there are several neon shops.
However,
getting good cores for free is difficult as several Mexican companies
come
north and also visit the same shops. They pay $10 per 30 ma. So,
getting
a used, working core costs a few bucks (but, the shop will tell you from
whence the core originated). Once you've bought a few cores, the neon
shops are quite happy to also let you take the cores which are partially
or
totally damaged.
