G-10 and equivalent glass-epoxy composites are dirty-expensive if you
have
to BUY them :) . Here in Finland one company wants about 200usd for a 4'
x
4' sheet 10mm thick of G-11. The cost is the same for a smaller piece of
sheet as well because of cutting expenses.
Thanks to a friend I managed to acquire a piece of G-10 with
"reasonable"
price and talked one company with a special lathe to make it into a
disk.
There aren't many companies that will work with these materials - dust
is
dangerous and diamond-tools are required etc. SO: check before acquiring
G-10 that you can get it machined somewhere!!!!

Watch out : some rubbers are conductive.. at least a bit. Might
be a danger at 10+ kV..

How about pheholic laminates with cotton? They are not as good as G-10
but
much cheaper, easily available etc.. Usign a thicker piece should work
fine.. If I hath not found G-10 I'd used these. Also called
"cotton-enforced bakelite".
