tube coils

You ask about current flow from plate to filament(sp?) in vacuum tubes...  the 

truth is (feel free to rebuf me);  there is no current flow in that direction. 

 Hole flow in semi conductors is a mater of spaces seeming to move as 
electrons jump from hole to hole, this is how the electrons get thru the 
material- by taking the place of the next hole and leaving one behind (thus 
the hole hasn't 'really' moved but an identicle hole has apeared giving that 
appearence).  In a vacuum tube there is no material to move thru... so there 
is no 'real' current from plate to cathode (filament).  Some books and even 
teachers, however, still teach "conventional current flow", this is even how I 

think of electricity moving in a circuit.  In conventional flow energy goes 
from positive to negative, sometimes this is easier to understand.
