110/220V safety questions

Thats the right way, the code way.
Wiring to the GROUND is a code nono. But it would work.
An alternative would be to wire the contactor coil in series with
an apropos power resistor or light bulb (FREE: Pilot Light...)
across the 220.
(if the contactors are both goping on and off at the same time
Put the coils in series.... (if the contactors are identical.)
