GOT A NEON-WHAT NOW?
Te> The old ones down at the local neon
Te> shops are about to fail anyway. I think the reason 9KV 120 Ma neons
Te> work better is the voltage is high enough to jump a gap while
Te> maintaining heavy enough secondary wiring and insulation for
Te> voltage surges.
The ones I got were taken out of service from defunct stores, and were
not in service too long, real clean. My brother-in-law is an electrician,
and a great scrounger and horse trader. I've given him an order for any
neons he can get, also a stray pig if he sees one (he runs into ground
mounted 2kV transformers, but I told him to look for a 14kV for me)
Te> Jacob Fishman, a fellow engineer, neon light guy and
Te> Tesla fan will sell you one. You can contact him at:

Te> He sells two types of 120 Ma Tranies (THats what he calls them).
Te> 15 KV for $328
Te> 9 KV for $200
Sounds good, but unfortunately I will not have much play money for quite
a while, so I've got to get used for now! (and free, if possible!) I agree
that for least hassle a new one is the way to go, and I thank you for the
info.

I'll keep the group informed of my "progress" as I try to get my "budget"
coil up and running.
Thanks for all your help,
