The booklet from Lindsay Publications is Metal Spinning by James E.
Reagan and Earl E. Smith. The copyright date is 1936. Frankly, it
doesn't look like a job for the rank amateur.

sells toroids and spheres as well as many other HV goodies. Their
toroids range from 2.95" to 42" diameters. I haven't seen their prices
but I guess they are not cheap.
