Jim,
Most of the blow outs I have heard of on our capacitors involve large gap
settings or long run times. 30 mil poly in three layers is much better than
90 mil solid, I would recommend three large 30 mil caps, single layer
wound, be placed in series if you must operate at 15KV. Series connected,
thin dielectric, capacitor hookups always work better. We used 60 mil in
our original caps and use 2 in series for15KV.
They are still good today after 6 years.
