Someone had asked several weeks ago about the identity of some mystery
tubes. They were found to be thyratrons, but the normal mercury vapor
type. However, as I said, I understand that there are "hydrogen"
thyratrons that are very fast and would be suitable for Tesla coil gap
replacement. (although I wouldn't want to use one that had 02 leaking
into it, ha) But, I've never seen any on the surplus market- nor do I
have any specs for any- were probably only used for exotic gov
projects back during the Cold War. Rob.

Hi Guys

I have one of those"cold war tubes, my boss really upset a russian
that was visiting his lab back then because he was told that my boss
was only doing research, when he saw the large pole pig in the cage
he got very upset, boss later learned that the russian thought he was
already in production!

The thing came with a .01 50Kv VERY low inductance cap from who
else--=Condenser Products

He says the tube is filled with Deuterium and is worth kilo$$- also
it will switch Kilo amps in pico secs. Also remarked that I could
push it he did and the thing never cared. His comment was that it
quenches extremely fast.

I will have to set it up some day, I have an 11,000 volt 800 mA plate
transformer and the rectifiertubes for it sounds like it should be
intresting

Anyone have any good design ideas for this stuff,- beside sending it!
