Sorry Malcolm,
I'm not sure what Hull calls it, but it is an inverted magnifier
in the sense that the "base" or externally driven side is near the ceiling
and the torroid is below that so that it's closer to the floor (6.5' in
this case). He hangs the air-core driver transformer on the wall so that
its axis is perpendicular to the magnifier.
