T>>~Boy, it sure has been a quiet summer; the last mail I got from
T>>~"teslanet" was way back in May. I hope somebody has been doing
It sure has been quiet on here. I thought everyone gave up!
But I did finally complete my coil! It worked good the first time I
fired it up. I have been really pleased with it so far. I am getting
31" arcs to a grounded metal chair. This coil is made of 3 neon sign
transformers, for a total of 15000v at 120ma. Primary capacitors are
.034ufd each, and the two of them are connected in series for a working
rating of .017 for the set. The primary coil is made of 1/4" copper
tubing arranged in a flat spiral at the base of the secondary. The
secondary is 15" winding of #24 magnet wire on PVC pipe coated thickly
with polyurethane both before and after winding. Total form length is
16.5 inches. The discharge electrode is a aluminium donut or torus,
made from 3" dryer duct formed around a plywood disk. Overall, it's
18 inches across and about 3 inches thick. Aluminum flashing and
aluminum tape is used to keep it together. After playing around with
the design of the spark gap, I found that 4 gaps at .025 inches each
work the best. The gaps are made of 1 inch copper pipe cut in 3 inch
long sections and attached to a lexan plastic base. I gap them with
a piece of cardboard from the back of a legal pad.
It sure has been fun making this thing work. I even lighted
a neon sign and some florescent tubes from about 3 feet away. This
coil sure does put out the ozone though!
T>>~Now some questions...
T>>~- Has anybody ever hooked two transformers
up in series to double the
T>>~output voltage? I'm assuming that I can tie the two secondary
I know that this can't be done with a neon sign transformer,
because the input windings arent' made to handle that kind of voltage.
On yours I don't know. But I would be real careful.....those
transformers aren't't current limited, so you will need some form of
external current limiting to prevent a power arc in your AC supply.

Also call my BBS where I have lots of Tesla stuff online 913-371-3228
Please leave me a note if you do call, and I'll upgrade you right away,
because the call back verifier won't work long distance.
