If instead of trying to spray charge you just use the multiplier to charge
an insulated conductive lower roller, spraying charge over the belt from a
grounded comb, the current that you need is insignificant, and small
capacitors can easily be used in the multiplier.
Something as 6 kV, or at most twice this, would be enough. Experiment.
