Excellent idea! The requirement here is for something like 30kV
with the ability to pass 40 amperes continuously so an off the shelf
flash unit will fall short, but this is certainly the right kind of
circuit to look at for ideas. There are a ton of sites on how to
build strobes and photo flash units. Also thanks for all the other
replies to my query. I have a little inverter welder coming as a
basic current source (70amps at only 8lbs) so I am trying to assemble
the rest of the system. I really appreciate all the feedback I have
gotten so far from everyone.
