I got a cheap book on building an injection molding machine. Seems there
is a whole class of thermo-plastics that melt around standard house oven
temps. The fumes "smell like wax", well -- that includes the drop
sheets used by painters. Comes in various thicknesses. You could
build a sandwich and press between thick metal plates. eat in
the oven.
I have welded polyethylene sheet with a heat gun to make large dust
covers for my shop machinery. Buy a cheap toaster oven from
the thrift store, could practice with that.
Another plastic to try might be polystyrene available in hobby stores
in thin sheet form. Already has bubbles removed.
I believe both have reasonable electrical insulating properties, though
someone (Terry?) might have more to say.
