Regular household RTV such as bath sealant contains a lot of acetic
acid,
which is pretty corrosive. I'm not sure you would want to use that.
I've
got brass parts that were turned green by RTV applied by a previous
owner
of some HV equipment. I would suggest using either the dab-on liquid
corona
"dope" obtainable at TV repair centers and electronic supply companies,
or
immersing the whole assembly in oil.
