Re: [TCML] What do Tesla Coil strikes do to galvanising?

Hi all,

Im almost certain that the 'bleachy' smell of corona or sparks (corona
seems to produce more) is mostly NO2 rather than ozone, if you have ever
put copper into concentrated nitric acid and got a whif of it, the smell is
exactly the same, first time i did it my immediate thought was the smell of
corona discharge! Also i believe corona discharge was once used as an
industrial method of producing NO2 called the Berkeland-Eyde process. I
always used to associate that smell with ozone, like sometimes you get a
brief whif near a busy road or highway, but after smelling NO2 id be pretty
sure that is the main offender from electrical discharges. Unless ozone
smells exactly the same which isnt far fetched i suppose.
