Re: [TCML] Off topic? Inductively-coupled N2 laser

Hi,

I am currently working on a N2 laser and they are probably the easiest laser to build.(funding is holding me back) Most Tesla coil folks have the required equipment on hand for a TEA laser that uses the N2 in air as the lasant. You do not need a rear mirror as the laser will work superradiantly.(no mirrors) A rear mirror will double the output. The output is UV and can be used for pumping dye lasers. Laundry detergent can be used as a dye for a blue laser.

Warning! Peak powers can be in KW's so treat this laser as a Class IV laser. One experimenter had one of these lasers on a dye cell and the beam blew chunks out of a camera CCD.

Here's a great link for anyone wanting to try a N2 laser.
