Yes it does have gfi but it can be bypassed. The only hard part is getting to the short wires after you remove the gfi unit. Easiest to drill out the spot welds holding that end of the box on. I can look at one I have this afternoon for more info if needed.

I'm curious if anybody knows if a: this transformer has a GFI (has a 'fault
indicator' light and a reset button, so I'm guessing yes) and b: if it
would be trivial in this case to disable or bypass it.

It's not a solid state "modern" transformer, and it doesn't look like the
GFI (if that's what it is) is integrated with the transformer proper, and
it looks from the photo as if it should be easily removed and wired
directly.

Anybody encounter anything similar?
