Hi John, here is the original MMC chart that the geek group put out:

That chart (and how you go about doing it) is the combination between 3 factors:
1) enough caps in a string to hold off the voltage.. 10 for a 15kV NST
2) enough caps to get the capacitance where you want it (that's why there's 19 0.1 uF caps for a 15/30.. it's to get the capacitance down low enough.
3) enough caps/strings in parallel to handle the current
