Re: [TCML] Tesla Magnifier with pancake primary and secondary

Jim,

Thanks for the advice; I increased the electrode diameter of the static spark
gap and added a cooling fan.  My arc length and thickness increased along with
the number of breakouts (suggesting that my toroid is too small).  During one of
my runs, I noticed that my coil suddenly started running a wee bit better than
normal; upon inspection, i saw that one of the connections to the spark gap came
apart and formed a second gap.  Next gap up: "intentionally" constructed
air-cooled multi-gap (then the ARSG).

Also, I was wondering if any other work has been done with large pancake
primary-secondary (helical tertiary) magnifiers?

I'm planning on building a ARSG.  Do you reckon that 0.5in W electrodes would
suffice (considering surface area).  What would be the power handling capacity
for the same?

try cooling it with a fan, or making a gap with electrodes with a lot of
surface area
