Re: [TCML] static gap singing coil hybrid.

Hi

To gap the MOT's split the EI section and rejoined with "no more nails" with a shim of formica sheet to make the spacer.

Have played around with a system to inject DC thru the MOT while exploring the inductance using an AC waveform. From memory Total L is 10Hy (thats the 4 MOT stack) and saturation effects begin at a little over 600mA per core

I've had great success with MOT's and DC design also using more MOT's in
the charging inductor, hate to go on but this was very low cost and big
power coiling just using MOT's as you are thinking about

My main supply is 6 MOT's, 3 MOT's centre ground per side) for a little
over 12kvac (No shunts)
Rectifier FW bridge with lots of 1n5403's
PI DC filter C,L,C (The L is 4 gapped MOT's by 0.3mm) two in series of 2
in parallel
Ring up L same as DC filter
300bps SRSG, 90nF Cp, really big toroid system (12" flexiduct)
Goes amazing, well over 3m at about 10kVA
Very smooth operation

have you measured the L of your inductors? Did you just use the existing secondary, and added a gap? (& how did you do the gapping? Vise and hacksaw or something)
