[TCML] Timing SRSG

So I have a question:

I'm on my 3rd SRSG (pics to follow), which is probably a step backward in time. I went from an SRSG with a 4" G10 disk, to a propeller gap, and now to a 7" G10 disk with 4 electrodes in the configuration seen on the websites of old. I just wanted to see if perhaps there was some better current handling and timing capabilities of this gap compared to the propeller gap, as I have eight 1/4" tungsten rounds all facing each other at each presentation. 120BPS.

One thing I was playing with - I tried timing the SRSG with nothing at all connected but the NSTs and the Terry Filter. In that configuration, with the Freau phase controller, I reached what I thought was TDC, and indeed may have been.

Then I connected the the whole resonator : cap bank + primary coil, and secondary, and what I found is that what I thought was TDC, was now no longer TDC. I guess this should be obvious to me, as the resonating ckt must add some non-zero power factor and associated phase shift.

But I guess the dumb side of me wants to believe I could time it without the LC primary + secondary, and have it be the same after. Or perhaps I could just go and calculate the PF and then adjust the timing on the SRSG motor by exactly those number of degrees and see if it would work in practice?

ANyway, is there any way to adjust the timing on the SRSG without trying to run the whole coil?

Cheers,
