[TCML] NST Reactive Primary Amperage Consumptions

I saw the post about the 10kVA pole xfmr and was very surprised.  I don't have a pole pig, wish I did, but I do have 3 12kV NSTs paralleled for a 1kVA output.  I was noticing the other day while messing with a Jacobs Ladder that my current consumption was greater without the arc in the ladder.  I thought it rather odd that my current would be greater at a lower voltage without arcing than at a higher voltage with basically a short.

http://www.cmnow.com/TeslaMan/Meter-Amps.JPG shows a tad over 7 amps at roughly 85V and about 2 amps at 100V when the Ladder was firing.  Anyone 'splain this one to me?

Thanks,
Miles
