Funny you mentioned the tungsten, as I obviously didn't
look at your diagrams closely enough and was thinking about the aluminum having far too low of a melting point
to be incorporated as the actual electrode "working
suface(s)" for the RSG, barring the question of its suit-
ability from a conductance stand point. However, as far as aluminum's conductive suitability is concerned, although I do not currently use aluminum in the primary circuit of my big coil, I have used it in the past and could tell no real difference in the performance of the coil as opposed to using all copper for the primary circuit con-
ductors. Actually, copper tubing (or cable) is more readily
available in builders' supply stores (Home Depot, Lowe's,
ect.) than aluminum in equivalent form anyhow, so I think
that's probably the primary reason that copper is the typical
choice over aluminum for this purpose, conductivity issues aside. In the past, I had used aluminum flat bar for the pri- mary interconnections but not the primary coil itself. As a matter of fact, even now I still have huge aluminum lugs that I attach the RF ground to the base of my current coil with. Performance is still fine ;^)

Ok... thanks for all your replies... but now I have conflicting opinions. One says yay Al and another says boo Al. Can you guys show some supporting data so I can make the final decision on which material to use. FYI in case you didnt look at our engineering diagrams, the Al will only be used for the conducting ring and electrode supports. The actual electrode electrodes are .25" tungsten. Look at the diagrams and note the materials at the bottom of the designs. Thanks, Andrew
