    sort of matches what i think i recall.
    some use as pump, my recollection is use for 'dirty' fluids,
    or those with particles in them: no blades are a win here.
    Also for high vacuum final pump down?

    Obvious candidate for web search, tho some sites may be more
    accurate than others...
