Re: [TCML] What about an " Ebay/CraigsList" site for the TCML??

An eBay style site would be pretty hard to do, as it has an end of bid countdown, a rating system, current bid amount, current winning bidders' max bid, which automatically adjusts the winner's bid up to the competing bidder's max, reserve price, etc. etc. A Craigslist is more like what often happens on the current TCML, that is, someone announces stuff for sale, and the deal is handled offlist. Traffic on the TCML seems reasonable these days, so if someone were to post that they wanted something or had something for sale, it doesn't seem to be a problem. I'm one vote in a sea of maybe thousands of TCML members, and this ain't no democracy. The one who takes on the burden of moderating gets to make all the rules. I don't know how much effort it is to setup and maintain an unmoderated list, but I know many unmoderated lists quickly disintegrate into flaming SPAM. However, if we all agreed to allow "Wanted" or "For Sale" items on the TCML, could we simply
modify the subject line to add "For Sale" or "Wanted"? That would allow members who didn't want to get these to filter them out. Rules might exclude items such as cars and boats, but might allow things that would normally be off topic as posts to the list, such as lasers, optics, vacuum pumps, or anything of a mad scientist nature.

Thoughts?
