Re: [TCML] Current control

Hi Paul,

The modified Variac should be placed in series with the line and the load,
using only the wiper and one end of the coil. Or, you may need another Variac,
(or more reactance) placed before the slotted one to control the voltage.
Apparently your modified Variac doesn't have enough reactance to limit the
current at full voltage.

Hi all,

I recently received some info on using a second variac to control the
current to a pole pig, however, I seem to be having further problems. I cut the
core of the second variac in two as sugested, but when I connect it up and try
to run it, the current goes straight up beyond 50 Amps and the breaker kicks
in. Could someone verify the way in which it should be wired up. Please help.

Regards

Paul McGlen.
