[TCML] Re: Discovery Mythbusters - Liquid Stun Gun using coil

Hi Tony,

Yes, there was considerable arcing around the base of the secondary, as the 'super soaker' spilled considerable amounts of salt-water there. Although cause for concern it didn't seem to affect the coil output noticeably during the experiment.

It was interesting how Jamie, after a brief description of how Faraday's law would protect him while at HV, just hopped into the toroid and was ready to go, without as much as a low power 'warm up' test. GL

Yep, great job by Greg Leyh! Very interesting experiment, streamers coming from a stream of water and being directed at a target. Especially by placing Jamie inside the topload with his giant water gun. Greg, it looks like there was some power arcing around the base of the coil or the primary during one of the runs. Was something arcing over from all that water going everywhere? Great job Greg, and it was nice to see your Nevada Lightning Lab. Tell us more!! Watching Mythbusters tonight (episode 183, new tonight) and they are
trying to make a stun gun from a flow of water. Well, they just did a
teaser for coming up and it looks like Jamie is standing on a tesla
coil, and shooting through the top load to run a highly charged stream
down to a ballistics gel dummy.

Could be interesting.
