Re: [TCML] Rectifying A Tesla Coil: Point-Plane Collector Experiments - works!

Jeff -

This past weekend I downloaded 19 turn-of-the-century books on electrotherapy, X-ray technique, and high-frequency apparatus from Google. One of them had some info on HV rectification via point - plane (or closer to "point - cup", in this version).

The one illustration I remember seeing showed the point electrode INSIDE a metallic sphere - adjusted to be just short of the flashover point.

I'll go back and look at the books I have already looked at, and let you know the title & author of the one with the rectification details.

  Regards,
  Herr Zapp

Guys, this was fun, seriously fun!Maybe not the best way to rectify a coil, but it sure is a start - and a simple start at that!I made two collectors, one with a point and one with a plane. Placed them above a bipolar Tesla Coil.
One end of the bipolar coil had a point discharger, the other a plane. The opposite collector was placed above the dischargers. The result - see for yourself!
