From what I gathered from "bacon hoist" is meant to be "exhibition". I 
dont know how correct it is but a Dutch friend said the translation got 
messed up from an old dutch term of to exhibit a side of pig ( basically 
hoisting up the side of pork to be sold in the market  ergo exhibit)...
strange how language works sometimes...
