Final tuning is done by trial and error.  Once you think you have a  suitable
tune point, move the tap slightly in or out.  Then run the coil to  see if the
changes made things better or worse.  Always do the final tuning at  the
full power setting.  If you tune for best spark at a lower power,  then the
tune point won't be correct at a higher power level.  You can fiddle  with
coupling too, and see if a certain k is best.  If you couple too  tight,
you may get racing sparks.  If a primary has only 5 turns for  example,
then the tuning may be rather critical.  But if the primary has 20  turns,
(and uses them all), then the tuning will be less critical in a  sense.
In such a 20 turn case, you may be able to move the tap 1/2 turn  either way
without seeing much difference in spark output.
