[TCML] Disassebling a huge transformer

Het Guys I aquired a gigantic transformer for my pig ballast.  I want to
rewind it to make a reactor.  My question is Does anyone know of a good way
to get the I seperated from the E.  The I section is bolted together with
threaded rod.  At the top where the E and I meet the laminations are
interleaved together.  This transformer is big, mid section exceeds 25
square inches.  Weighs over 300 lbs.  Should I simply cut the I section
off?  Are there any good methods for this?
