Re: [TCML] Other fun things to do with a TC circuit.

Phillip -

My apologies - with further time spent on the Lamptech website, I found that the detailed descriptions of the HPS lamps DO show Xe as one of the constituent gases.

Equally interesting was the Osram Endura inductively coupled Electrodeless Induction Lamp, a "loop" envelope that functioned as a single-turn secondary, with ionized gas as the conductor. This operated at 250 KHz, right in the middle of the usual range of tesdla coil operating frequencies.

Lots of interesting technical information on the Lamptech website, but there's nothing in the sodium section that mentions xenon. The general introduction page does mention xenon, but this section is about early gas discharge lamps, not modern high pressure sodium lamps:

"This led to the creation of gaseous discharge lamps which frequently make use of the noble gases helium, neon, argon, krypton or xenon. Carbon dioxide was also of considerable interest owing to its white light output."

Possibly this is where you picked up xenon?

(Tesla content)
The section on "Electrodeless Induction Lamps" references Tesla's work with induction lighting, and give some information on recent lamp designs utilizing Tesla's principles.

I'm not exactly sure. http://www.lamptech.co.uk/SON.htm More information
on HPS lamps there.
