RE: [TCML] Motors

Gary
Well my plan was to provided a good 1/2 dia hole then if I was going to
mount to some thing else I would have the center located. I could drill a
hole in a blank disk but you would have to set a drill block in center with
a inside-mike from the hole pattern, easy to do but takes time. I had
thought a mount like a grinder motor with a 1/2 shaft and use the wheel
mounting flanges. I did this before I had the understanding of the need for
a sys motor, in fact I was going to build my caps then with alum flashing
and poly sheet, this was before MMC's. The only bright part is my large roll
of flashing most likely has more scrap value today. I a MMC set up now. I
will look into Terry's block. I like your variable set up with the capacitor
and Variac , I already have a couple of spare small Variacs.

Hi Rich,

The real beauty of the propeller gap is its _relative_ ease of construction.
A Bridgeport isn't necessary if you can start off with a piece of ~ 1" x 1"
x X Delrin, Lexan, nylon, or polyethylene for the arbor. Did you check out
Terry Blake's RSG page (linked on my page)? He indicates you can buy 1x1
UHMW Polyethylene from McMaster-Carr. The rest can be accomplished with
just a drill press.

If your phenolic disk has a 1/2" center hole, it may be challenging to find
something to mate that to anything else.
