That is precisely why you never want to install a whole house water softener. Soft water is agressive, and will corrode your pipes because it "wants" to dissolve your plumbing. Most municipalities have to add various dissolved salts, to comply with Federal lead and copper rules. While we have no lead or copper in our transmission and distribution systems, we are responsible for any lead and copper inside your house.
