Re: [TCML] Caps

MMC is the best way to go for a small TC.

You can wind your own coil --- that's the fun part about coil building.
Some experimenters use a hand crank, some an electric drill, or even a small
30 RPM gear motor (surplus from Borden's) to do the tough task. It's
rewarding when you finish.

PVC is a good coilform material --- sand the inside and outside thoroughly,
then 2 coats of AC-43 on both inside and outside --- allow overnight drying
between each coat.

After winding, then 4-5 more thin coats of AC-43 to seal the coil. I sand
lightly with 1000 grit sandpaper between each coat, except the final coat is
applied, then no sanding. When sanding wipe off with an alcohol saturated
"tack rag" before applying next coat.

I have complete plans for a nice 30 mA powered coil --- email me off list
and I will forward the plans to you.

If you are in the midwest we have a big Tesla Fest coming up on Sept. 6th
--- you will have a chance to see the 30 mA coil in action.
