I'm very saddened to hear this...

John was a very active member of the Tesla Coil Mailing List during the 
1990's. He also authored a number of Tesla Coil design books (many still 
available). John was an experienced electrical engineer, and he remained 
a serious Tesla Coil researcher well into his 80's. He was always elated 
to learn something new about Tesla Coils or to get new measurements from 
other coilers. He provided patient and sound advice to many a "newbie" 
coiler, and in-depth theoretical explanations and practical measurement 
approaches to seasoned coilers as well.

The Tesla coiling community has lost a pioneering researcher and 
author... and many of us have lost a friend as well.
