Re: [TCML] Teslathons??? (Australian)

Hi all,

Yes, hobby coilers generally tend to be spread by at least HUNDREDS of miles
(or kilometers for the Europeanly inclined). I suppose in a way this is not really all bad though. If too many people started getting into coiling, there would sub-
sequently be more accidents and the federal government would end up stepping
in and regulating most of us out of the hobby ;^( Thanks to the internet and the
TCML, coilers from all corners of the globe can now quickly and easily share
coil related info. Indeed, it's mainly because of this list that the Tesla coiling state of the art has made a quantum leap in the past decade or so! BTW, are there any more active coilers in or reasonably near (<100miles) the Memphis, TN area, be-
sides myself and Drake Schutt?

Clearly Bart was referring to the hordes of coilers in places like Samoa and Guam, if not Hawaii.<grin> FWIW, I always read SA as South Australia, not South America, probably because it's like reading CA as California, not Central America.

Maybe you are using a different Google Earth. USA is about 2800 miles in
longest dimension so you can't be thousands of miles apart that often. (in
fact just once).
I've told you a million times not to exaggerate!
I am 1300 miles from the nearest active coilers in Adelaide. No other ones
locally active in coiling.

Even in the US where there are lots of coilers, we are still often
thousands of miles to the next coiler. .......

Take care,
Bart
