Gates,
Holding a fluorescent tube by the glass provides insulation from the electricity flowing within. Low powered coils do not have the energy to penetrate the glass directly, but higher powered ones do. I think the energy is coupled to your hand like a capacitor, by induced charges, but as power increases it can exceed the breakdown voltage of the glass, shocking you. Someone with a little more technical background may wish to correct me!

I hold the glass on the fluorescent tube and get shocks when doing so ,but at low power runs wouldn't want to try that at full power!

NO resistance? I didn't think there was such a thing, I would assume
its very low, and that is also why coilers hold the glass when
lighting them up with a TC. I cant wait to get my coil going!!!!
