Jared -

You've got it backwards. Type "L" tubing is not refrigeration tubing.

Refrigeration tuning is designated by its outside diameter; 1/4"
refrigeration tubing measures a nominal 0.250" OD, with a 0.030" wall
thickness.

Type "K", "L" and "M" copper tubing is designated like standard pipe is; by
the inside diameter. 1/4" type K, L, or M copper tubing measures (nominally)
1/4" ID X 3/8" OD. K is heavy wall, L is medium wall, and M is light wall.

All of these types are available in coil form in fully annealed (dead soft)
temper.

If you are trying to wind a primary, or any other spiral or helical form, DO
NOT unroll the coil of tubing! If you are building a spiral primary, keep
the coil in its original form, and drop each turn down vertically into your
primary supports . If winding a helical primary, insert your coilform into
the center of the coil, secure one end of the coil to the form, and begin
winding your helix.

Scott Hanson

There are two types of 1/4 inch copper tube. The plumbing stuff is 1/4"
outside diameter. The type- L- refrigeration tube is 1/4" Inside diameter.
Type -L- is lovely stuff, it forms smooth bends and is almost as beefy as
3/8" O.D. plumbing tube. Type -L- works well with NST or with small pig
coil. Large boxes of tube are easier to unroll without disorting and work
hardening. ( try Graingers)
