If a TC has a spark gap with only 1 gap it does not work very well.  If
the same TC had 3 or 4 gaps it works better.  If the same TC has 9 gaps it
works much better.  If a Variable Speed Vaccuum Fan Spark Gaps is used on
the same TC the variac can be fine tuned to get the exact fan speed needed
for maximum TC output.  It appears the spark gap needs to break at a
certain rate for maximum TC output.  The VSVFSG is like having a Streamer
volume control.
