    As a general note I ALWAYS connect a 1N4007 or equivalent across  
meters with the anode to the + terminal.  The normal full-scale voltage 
drop for most meters is 50 mV although some cheaper ones have as much as 
200 mV.  In any case the diode leakage at that current is too small to 
change the reading but the diode will still conduct around 0.7 volts and 
protect the meter from burnout.
