program that certainly works although the design equations in the 555 
data sheets work fine too and are easy to use.  As for your plans,  are 
you talking about working with a TC with spark gap?  That will screw up 
any attempts to generate tones.  Also, putting an audio frequency signal 
in series with the primary of the NST will just add it, not cause 
modulation of the 60 Hz power line voltage.  If the frequency is 
significantly higher than 60 Hz than not much of anything can happen 
because the leakage reactance of the transformer and the primary 
capacitor for the coil will form what amounts to a low pass filter and 
none of the higher voltage will appear across the spark gap to modulate 
its firing time.
