    Was it?
With all due respect 'many' things have been used to
'treat' many things 'successfully' which later study
has found to be non effective, or actually hazardous.

Vigorous assertions by developers of cures, and whatever,
are sometimes, with the best intentions, uhmmmm,
    'optimistic'.
