Sorry it will not. The gas inside is usually at a low pressure and it is something like neon, argon, krypton, xenon. Some noble gas. If you break the glass, you will loose this gas. The gas is what makes the plasma globe so unique. Other wise you just have a HV supply and some glass.

Hey everyone, I have a small little plasma ball that you can buy from radio shack for $60-70, and was wondering, if you break the glass ball around it with the gas inside, will it still work?
