Wish I was on the West Coast so I could help. Really good rework project!

While I was in the infamous Richmond VA "yard" about 9 months ago, was
(3) 600kVA (NO BS) alternators. Needed prime movers and only one
unit looked to be salvageable (i.e. 50% probability of firing up without you
being "fired up"). Pushed shaft with foot... right, the bearings were ok...
  ;^D

Also saw a 100kVA (brand new) come through there about 18 months ago,
yep bearing ok as well, just need that 300HP diesel to run it.

Good luck on your rebuild and keep us in the loop... :^D
