Big coils in/near house : was - Warning on DRSSTC's

Steve, all,

I had problems with my pig powered coil, which can be
seen at: www.dawntreader.net/hvgroup/david/gm -
when even only powering it up enough to where the
RSG just started to "spit". Even with the RF ground
firmly established, the first litle spits would
cause the home alarm system to go absolutley haywire
and I once had to call the alarm company to send a
technician to come and fix the glitch in the system.
Thankfully, it was something that he was able to reset
without replacing any parts. However, on another occa-
sion, I was firing it outside house but close enough
that the streamers could still strike the house and
especially the garage door ;^O So, guess what happened?
Yep, it fried the garage door opener assembly to the
tune of about $300 to repair it ;^( Talking about an
unhappy wife!

I finally removed my RF ground system to some 40 ft away
from the house down the driveway and since firing my coil
at this "remote" distance from the house, I have had no
more problems ;^)
