Hi,

At 07:12 PM 12/15/2005, you wrote:
Well now you have me thinking that I must be really good at
soldering...

I have been using lead free solder for a year now, with decent
results, it does help to make sure you soldering iron tip is
compatable with it though (lead free solder would not tin my old tip,
I bought a new one that said it was for lead free use, and it worked
a lot better).

What type/manufacturer of solder???? The special tip is a new to
me *;-)))

I no longer have the package/spool, it was used for holding some
magnet wire I gave to a friend, and I now just have a big ball of
solder, but if memory serves it said something like "High Tech Lead
Free Rosin Core Solder" and had a light-blue label on the spool, the
same company has a lead based solder they also call "High Tech" and
solder they do not call "High Tech", but I do not know what it means...

I can send you a piece if you want...

I noticed the tip thing when buying a new tip, some said for lead
free, some did not (both can be used with lead solder) I assumed it
was either a different plating, or just that it was already tinned
with lead free solder, either way, it made a difference.
